Who we are

CanonDraft (canondraft.com) is screenwriting software run by Painting Pictures, 50, Ratan Colony, Jiwaji Ganj, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh 474001, India ("we", "us"). You can reach us at yt@paintingpictures.co.in. These terms apply whenever you use CanonDraft. If you don't agree with them, please don't use it.

What CanonDraft is

CanonDraft is a web app for writing screenplays in industry format and planning your story on a visual desk of characters, locations, scenes and research. It includes AI features that help you brainstorm, research, develop characters and create reference images. Writing is free. CanonDraft Pro is a paid subscription that adds unlimited scripts and AI-generated images of your characters, locations and scenes.

Your account

You can start writing without an account. To subscribe to Pro you sign in with Google, and you're responsible for keeping that Google account secure. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy a subscription.

Pro subscriptions and payment

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy Pro, you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms, shown at checkout.

• Pro costs $15 a month or $100 a year, plus any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live. Paddle shows the final price at checkout.
• Both plans start with a 7-day free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you won't be charged.
• After the trial, your subscription renews automatically every month or year until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Pro Plan · Billing in the app, or from the links in your Paddle receipt. Cancelling stops future charges, and Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.
• If we change the price, we'll tell you before it applies to your next renewal.
• Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

Your writing and your work

Your scripts, notes and the images you upload are yours, and so is what CanonDraft's AI features create for you, to the extent the law allows. We don't claim ownership of any of it. You allow us to process your content only as needed to run the features you use, for example sending a scene to our AI provider when you ask for feedback on it.

CanonDraft saves your projects in your web browser, on your device. They aren't stored on our servers, so clearing your browser's data, using a private window or switching devices can mean losing them. Please keep your own copies of work that matters to you. We can't recover projects that were deleted from your browser.

AI features

AI features are powered by third-party models, currently Google's Gemini models. What they produce can be wrong, incomplete, or similar to existing works, so please review it before you rely on it. You're responsible for how you use it. Don't use CanonDraft to create anything unlawful, sexual content involving minors, content that harasses or defames people, or realistic images of real people without their consent. Your use of AI features must also follow Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.

Fair use

Please don't:

• break the law or infringe anyone else's rights while using CanonDraft;
• try to disrupt, overload or get around the security of the service;
• scrape it, or use automated tools to call its AI features in bulk;
• resell or share access to CanonDraft Pro.

Our software

CanonDraft's software, design and name belong to Painting Pictures. We give you a personal, non-exclusive right to use it under these terms.

Changes and availability

We keep improving CanonDraft, so features may change. We work to keep it available but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we ever shut CanonDraft down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid subscription time you haven't used.

Ending your use

You can stop using CanonDraft at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.

Liability

CanonDraft is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost work, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law doesn't allow us to exclude.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections of the law where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and tell you in the app or by email before an important change takes effect.
